We are Corbett WI.

Based in Catford and comprised of local women of all ages and backgrounds, we are a growing community dedicated to creating new experiences and opportunities for all our members.

Our meetings are on the 4th Thursday of the month at Corbett Community Library on Torridon Road, Catford and the next one is 25th July 7.15 - 9.15 pm. We usually have a speaker or an activity, along with refreshments and a chat. There is a £42 annual fee to join, while guests pay £5 per meeting.

There’s a bumper PLANT SALE this month! We shall have a lovely selection of good plants and have priced them accordingly:

  • small plants: £2.50 single, £4.00 for 2

  • medium plants: £3.50 single, £6.00 for

  • large plants: £4 or £5 according to size and state.

Please remember that this plant sale is to raise money for Corbett WI, as well as giving you the chance to buy super plants at lower than nursery prices, so buy copiously while you have the chance! NB any left over plants will be grown on for next year, not sold off cheap. *** Remember to bring your cash ***

For our June meeting Camilla from Capital Bee gave a fascinating talk about her city bee-keeping. If you’re interested in keeping bees, more information can be found at capitalbee.co.uk

Ascot trip

Our members donned their fascinators for a trip to Ascot last week. The weather held out with only a few spots of rain on arrival at the racecourse. Our main winners of the day were Kay for Handbag Bingo and Nicole on the horses.

If any members have photos of the day they’d like to share, please send them via corbett@wkfi.org.uk

Annual meeting results

On 24th May we had our Annual meeting, where we voted for a President for the next year, so well done Gill! The Committee will consist of Ann, Gill, Jackie, Kay, Lotte, Phoenix and Yvonne.

Corbett WI also voted for the two nationally chosen Resolutions - Don’t fear the smear and the A call against the decline in local buses. Ann and Phoenix gave heartfelt speeches for each of the Resolutions and both were passed by the membership.
